Today, the blues music scene continues to be alive and well. Many new, younger blues artists keep showing up as witnessed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The NWBF has had former IBC winners in its lineups. This year we will have two former finalists and one winner; Albert Cummings and Bernard Allison, son of one of the blues legends Luther Allison along with Duke Robillard who was the front man for the blues groups Roomful of Blues and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Our other headliner is Tinsley Ellis, famous for great vocals and his awesome electric blues and one of blues best Axe Men.
NWBF has been in the business of presenting some of the best blues entertainment in the Midwest for the last four years. NWBF is a sought after event for blues artists. In the summer issue of American Blues Scene Magazine, The NWBF was named one of the top five Best New Festivals in the nation in the summer of 2015 and is the only Midwest Festival to receive this distinction. Editor Matt Marshall states that The NWBF is “gaining great traction with fans”.
Chicago Magazine, in the June 2016 issue, calls the Eau Claire area home to an arising music scene. The area has an active Chippewa Valley Blues Society that sponsors Tuesday Night Blues all summer long.

Steve Rheaume – CEO/President
Steve is a co-founder of the Northwoods Blues Festival. He is an announcer/DJ on public radio (WOJB) in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. His radio handle is Stevie Ray, and his primary show is The Blue Monday show. An early love for music, started with his older cousin’s band (now in the Minnesota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) and has only intensified through out his life. Although a career tax consultant, his rebel side and creativity always seems to draw him to something in the music business. One of his creative ideas was the inventing and producing of The Original Wisconsin Lei; a brat and cheese lei popular in Wisconsin and Green Bay Packer games. Chris Alcorn – Vice President and Director of Security
Chris is the Northwoods Blues Festival Security Operations Manager. He has more than 20 years of experience in security related fields and provides security consultation and services for many events, festivals, rally events, corporations, and more. Chris has also served as a First Responder and worked in asset recovery. His years of experience ensures the Northwoods Blues Festival will be fun and safe! Christopher M. Murray – Executive Chef for Northwoods Blues Festival
Chef Chris is a seasoned culinary chef with 40 years of experience offering his services to country clubs, restaurants, corporate executive dinners, weddings, large scale parties, and intimate home dinners. Chef Chris is well known in the industry, he has provided lunch for US Senators as well as then President of the United States, Bill Clinton during his trip to Minneapolis. In mid-March of 2017, Chef Chris will be preparing a luncheon for Senator Al Franken and others. Traveling extensively throughout the United Sates as well as World traveled, Chef Chris has visited 24 countries exploring food and culture, including Morocco, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Sicily, Paris, Canada, Brazil and Peru. Learning the local foods and culture from these trips, Chef Chris’s skills continually grow to insure authentic, fresh exciting food and flavors from around the United States and the world. Chef Chris and his food have been written up in newspapers, appeared on several TV shows as well as mentioned in several magazines such as; Food Management Magazine and American Blues Scene Magazine. Chef Chris has received several awards for his charitable work providing food for the less fortunate and received recognition from the Minneapolis chapter of the ACF for his charitable work in Minneapolis.
